Charles M. Lapière, 1931–2007, was a founding member and the first President of the European Tissue Repair Society from 1989-1991.

In 2011, Dr. Sabine Eming, ETRS President from 2007-2011, and the ETRS Board, established a memorial lecture to honor Charles M. Lapière as a distinguished role model, an enthusiastic clinician and scientist in the fields of cell biology and dermatology.

Since then, the memorial lecture is part of all ETRS annual meetings, and the speakers are listed below:
